I’ve seen and personally heard many, many people asking “how does Facebook make money?”. It’s something that pretty much everyone has wondered at one point or another.

Facebook has only been around for a few short years and in that time it has climbed from being a college student’s side project to being a multi-billion dollar business that is recognized all around the world. It’s amassed over 500 million members and now brings in just as much traffic as Google.com.

That’s all extremely impressive for a website that has been around for as little time as Facebook. So how does Facebook make money when it’s nothing more than a big hang out spot?

Well, if you take a deeper look into Facebook you’ll see. Remember all those ads on the side of your “friend feed”? Guess what, Facebook gets paid to have those there. This is known as affiliate marketing.

Today has been a rather slow day in the $5,000 in 50 Days project. I’ve mainly been building up a few Web 2.0 properties as well as promoting a set of articles (I’ll be revealing how to do all this later on).

My little side business is doing quite well. Just last night another 3 orders came in totaling about $165 plus I’ve made an affiliate sale with a commission of $29.25 so I’m sitting at a little less than $200 for the day. At this rate I’ll be able to achieve my goal quite quickly.

The side business is something I’ll discuss with you guys later on in the series as well. It’s actually proving to be quite handy for cash. For the rest of the day I’ll be working on getting some articles and web 2.0 properties ranked well in Google.

Once the rankings come the sales should follow. That is completely dependent on the products I’m promoting but we shall see! I’m itching to get some serious cash rolling in.

Welcome back to the $5,000 in 50 Days series! First of all I want to let you guys know that I will be dropping tips and suggestions on how you can get started making money online like I do throughout this entire series.

I mentioned in the original introduction post that I would be releasing a full, detailed guide at the end of the series and I’m still gonna do that, but I wanted to help you guys get started through the entire case study as well.

I know 50 days is a long time to wait for a guide and that’s why I’ve decided I’m going to get you guys going throughout the series and then release the full guide at the end as well.

I started this project on the first and it’s gone quite well so far. If you haven’t been following me, be sure to check out the first $5,000 in 50 Days post to get an understanding of what this is about and what I’ve done so far.

When I began this project I started with an old, but still very effective technique known as article marketing. This is basically writing articles on subjects and posting them to article directories with a link back to a website that promotes a related product in which I earn commissions on each sale.

I’ve also outlined a set of readings that I recommend for all users that are wanting to start in making money online here.

As I said I will be dropping tips and mini guides along the way through this series and will release a full on, step by step guide at the very end. This stuff is easy guys. It takes a little time and effort but it’s very simple to do.

I recently figured up that I need about $5,000 by March 25th, 2011 to do something I need to do and I figured, why not make a case study out of it! So, my goal is rack up about $5,000 in a bit under 50 days via the internet (of course).

The big thing here is that I’m using completely new websites/products/ideas over the course of the next 50 days. So I’m basically building up from $0/mo to about $2,500/mo in a very short time. A lot of marketer’s will tell you that this is an insane goal and isn’t possible, but they’re wrong.

If you choose to be a lazy ass and not work for it, then yeah, you won’t come close to pulling off $5k in 50 days but if you bust ass like I am going to you can do it.

It’s now February 6th and I started this little project on the 1st of the month. So far I’ve managed to pull in about $966 in that time. At that rate I’ll hit my goal but I need to keep it up!

Anyway, this is where I am as of today. I’ll be updating this about once a week until 50 days is up. And, again, the goal is to reach $5,000 in 50 days, but there’s always a chance I’ll come up short or even exceed that goal.

And remember that this is all new stuff, none of it includes what I already do so this is starting from scratch. Obviously I’m going to be a bit more capable of pulling this off than some people simply because of my experience but anyone can do this stuff.

It’s literally typing and clicking a few things. Not much to it. You don’t even really need to know a whole lot of technical stuff like HTML, CSS, etc. It helps a bit but you don’t need it by any means.

Normally it’s fairly difficult to find forums relating to making money online that are worth a damn, but there are a select few that actually provide substance and have loads of great info buried within them.

Today I figured I’d reveal a few of the forums that I regularly visit and learn a lot from and I’m sure they can and will help you as well if you dig up the good stuff that’s hidden in their threads. A few good searches will turn up a lot of valuable info if you know what you’re looking for.

Some of my favorite make money online forums:

• NicheChoppers (normally costs to get in but its FREE for a limited time!)
• BlackHatWorld
• WarriorForum

These 3 are by far the most resourceful and quality forums you’ll be able to find relating to making money online. Take the time to do a few good thorough searches or visit their “beginner” or “noob” sections and you’ll find a goldmine of information.

It’s no secret that online shopping used quite often and billions are spent buying items from places like Amazon, Best Buy, Gamestop and many other big names online.

Now we all know that Christmas time is big around town. The traffic is ridiculous, the stores are jam packed with people and everyone is rushing around to get their shopping done. Well, the same applies to online business as well. Minus %75 of the headaches.

Don’t believe me?

Just one of my websites (I have almost 100) performed what I like to call a “power week”. This particular site usually does exceptionally well around Christmas week and this year wasn’t any different.

Just check out the totals from today & yesterday and you’ll get an idea of what I’m talking about:

As you can see I’ve pulled in a total of $438.00 just today (and there’s still 1 1/2 hrs left to get sales) and yesterday I pulled in $174.75.

This website has performed like this ALL week. Not one day dipped below $150. Last year I was shocked at how well this site did but this year I understand it more. The market it targets is VERY popular during Christmas time and people BUY BUY BUY it up!

But anyway, the moral to this story is that if you set yourself up right early on in the year and prepare for the Christmas rush by promoting the right kinds of products, you can make BIG BUCKS.

It’s around this time of year that many “marketers” claim that their earnings drop significantly and they dread thinking about the holidays. Some say that people just don’t buy affiliate products during these times, but I couldn’t disagree more.

When it comes to big holidays like Christmas you have to expand your horizons a bit. It’s not that people won’t purchase affiliate products, it’s more or less you’re not promoting the RIGHT product.

Any intelligent marketer will tell you that you need to think about the market during these times. What are people looking for right now? Tangible products. It’s Christmas, do you really think someone is gonna buy an ebook to give as a gift? No.

You have to expand your horizons and find products that are more suited for promoting during these times. Go for stuff you KNOW people are buying during the holidays: clothing, toys, movies, video games, electronics, etc.

Don’t know what affiliate program to join that offers these? You can find some great, name brand products and more to promote at several affiliate networks such as:

• Commission Junction
• ShareaSale
• LinkShare

Many of the larger name programs will actually email you discount codes and coupons that you can use to attract buyers in waves (people love coupon codes). Go through the lists and pick out a few good products, write up some articles or throw up a blog, push some traffic and you’ve got yourself a pretty penny coming for the holiday months.

There’s no reason marketers should dread this time of year. The Christmas season is when everyone is in purchase mode with credit cards in hand for God’s sake! Take advantage of it!

It’s been a good while since I’ve made any posts that contribute any true value to people looking to find out how to make money online, so I figured it’s about time I revealed a few key things to MMOTW readers that I’ve been holding onto for a while.

First of all, let me go ahead and tell you that making money online isn’t ridiculously hard but it does take time, effort & patience. If you can’t dedicate a bit of each to making this work, please, go ahead and leave the page.

The only reason I say this is because it is a known statistic that only about %10 of people who try internet marketing (making money online) actually go on to succeed and make a full-time income on it.

And that’s NOT because it’s hard to do. It’s actually because the other %90 of people want a quick & easy free ride and assume that as soon as they start they’ll be seeing $1000s coming in. That’s not how this works. You HAVE to work at it to make it work.

But when you finally do get it running well for you, you’ll be addicted. The benefits of working from home outnumber any pro you can name for a standard 9-5 job. Working online gives you complete control of your time & freedom. You determine when you work, how you work and what you work on.

And as far as the the money you can make goes, as cliche as it may sound, the sky is the limit. If you are a fast learner and can manage your time well you will find out that there is a ton of money to be made in the online business.

I’ve had some awesome days & months myself and I haven’t even grazed the tip of the iceberg. I’m 22 and I average anywhere from $3k to $7k a month online. And that number is soon to become $10k+ steady.

How long have I been working at it? At the end of this month I will have been working full-time online for just ONE YEAR.

For being only 22 years old, I’d say that is damn good. And my online business is growing and expanding quickly as I become better & better at what I do and leverage what I’ve learned in this past year.

And I’m not telling you this to brag. I’m telling you this to show you that ANYONE can do this. I don’t have a college degree of any sort and I don’t have connections with big names or anything like that. I’ve graduated high school, that’s pretty much the extent of my education.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist or an Ivy League scholar to make some serious cash online. It takes dedication and persistence. And if you can push yourself to do your best at it, you will find that making money online is quite simple.

Now, what exactly did I use to learn how to make the money that I do now? There are actually a few different things that I picked up along the way that helped me IMMENSELY when I was starting out and I’ve never really told anyone about them before because they have some powerful tips & hints in them that not many people know about.

But, as I said in the beginning of this post, it’s been a while since I gave a gem to the MMOTW crowd, and you guys deserve this one. Here’s a list of pretty much everything that I have used/learned from to make money online the way that I do.

Keep in mind that you don’t have to grab every one of these tools right away. I’d grab 1 or 2, read through them, apply the tutorials & make some cash with them, THEN go on to grab the others.

First, is the autoblogging system known as AutoBlog Samurai. This one helps you make loads of small blogs that are completely automated (you dont have to do a thing with them after setting them up) to make big cash easily.
